On November 24th Amelia will be celebrating the feast day of St Fermina, who is the town's patron saint alongside St Olimpiade. Both were early Christian martyrs. Fermina, who was the daughter of a Roman prefect, arrived in the vicinity of Amelia with the intention of converting the locals.
