Narni (TR) - Narni (TR). On May 15th and 16th there will be guided tours of the San Cassiano Abbey, founded around the year 1000 AD by St Benedict on the site of a pre-existing hermitage that had been built using considerable quantities of materials pillaged from Roman buildings. Once a major economic power in the area, with vast properties and farmland, the abbey boasted an important library and a scriptorium. It is from this spot that Corot painted his well-known landscape with the Roman bridge that hangs in the Louvre.
