Perugia. From July 9th to 18th Perugia will once more be performing its functions as one of the world’s leading jazz venues with this year’s edition of Umbria Jazz, which as usual promises ten days of remarkable international talent plus all sorts of surprises. The main star guests of this year’s festival are SONNY ROLLINS, PAT METHENY, CHICK COREA, THE MANHATTAN TRANSFER, HERBIE HANCOCK, ROY HARGROVE. A newcomer group that holds considerable promise is MELODY GARDOT, whereas lovers of the classic voices of jazz will not be disappointed by the likes of TONY BENNETT and MARIO BIONDI. Quality Italian jazz will also be featured, with the favourites ENRICO RAVA and STEFANO BOLLANI, along with legendary stars such as MARK KNOPFLER. As with past editions, the main venue for concerts will be the Arena Santa Giuliana, which will be hosting the last night concert free of charge with the “Sons e Movimentos do Desejo” project. The Teatro Morlacchi and the Oratorio Santa Cecilia will be the preferred venues for traditional jazz concerts, while the Bottega del Vino at the La Taverna restaurant and the Hotel Brufani will be laying on lunches, dinners and mouth-watering combinations of food and music. The usual free entry concerts in Piazza IV Novembre and the Carducci gardens will, as always, be the backbone for atmosphere and an ideal place to sit back, relax and enjoy.
