Spoleto (PG) - Friday 28, Saturday 29 and Sunday, June 30 will take place on the show "The floor upstairs" at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti in Spoleto in the prestigious Festival of 2Mondi. The show will be staged on Friday at 21 pm, Saturdays at 16:30 and Sundays at 16 and 20.
The Piano Upstairs is the story of a marriage that is falling apart, the collapse of a seemingly hopeless relationship, narrated by Husband and Wife: Wife tells his version of bankruptcy through dance, she plays her husband.
With the progress of the story, the stories begin to change and transformation, and what might have seemed clear at the beginning, not only to the public but at the same narrators, it becomes something else. Who is telling the truth? Husband? The Wife? Only one? Both? As the characters interact with each other and with the public, their histories intertwined buy intensity and emotional strength. The stakes are rising more and more, until the story is no longer about the survival of the marriage of Husband and Wife, but the survival of the Husband and Wife themselves.
The Piano Upstairs was created by choreographer Alessandra Ferri, prima ballerina absolute recently retired from the scene, and the librettist John Weidman, three times nominated for a Tony Award for best book of a musical.
The music is a selection of piano works by contemporary composers, including Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass.
