UBU Award 2010 "Best Italian text," UBU Prize Nomination 2010 "Best Actor" Award at Hystrio Dramaturgy 2010. It is not just the story of an abortion. It is the story of a woman in a society dominated by the attitude and the male gaze: a look that clings predatory, violent and offensive, an attitude that causes the events but escapes responsibility. Abortion is only one of the many consequences. But it is the most extreme consequence.
The protagonist tells the female of a country's south. Crushed by a society built by men with rules that do not allow the footings, and still in his deep hard to change, Victoria tells her ordeal in a south backward and oppressive. And it does so in ironic tones, realistic and visionary together, certain of its women of the south. There is no shortage sarcastic and ironic moments like when men surveyors measure the female body as if instead of eyes had the meter. Or when the country turns into a huge open-air church to prevent pregnancies. Neither those affected linked to the decimation of the "chorus" of women. But when the protagonist comes full circle with the story of the ordeal of his niece, sarcasm and emotion gave way to a profound bitterness, putting us in front of the hard and ambiguous reality of our days.
