Foligno (PG) - From August 13 to 25, is back with the 36th edition of the event dedicated to the tasty production plateau of Colfiorito. The typical potato Colfiorito has also been recognized by the European Union, which in 1998 granted the Protected Geographical Indication.
The potato was introduced in Umbria in the first half of the eighteenth century, but especially since 1960 that a Dutch selection of potatoes became established in the Plain of Colfiorito and surrounding areas, finding a particularly happy. From the elongated oval shape, very uneven, with red skin and light yellow flesh, is particularly welcome for the production of dumplings, grilled potatoes and baskets.
Crossing the Plains of Colfiorito, where now you can also visit the swamp, today regional park, a wetland of great ecological value and fauna, meet the local farmers, who sell their products directly to the consumer.
