Foligno (PG) - The exhibition yesyesyes Alternative Press, Palazzo Trinci April 26 to May 18, 2014, he opened the seventh biennial LIBEROLIBROdARTISTALIBERO / freebook 2014 on publishing artist. The path opens the search "66-77, from Provo to Punk" on the alternative scene that, from the spring 15 publications PROVO, Europe flows into the revolutionary underground American prints from the 60 'and 70', up to the close 1977, the year of the terminal phase Punk, before the last revolution of the gray post-modern cultural alienation.
The exhibition of Foligno offers a chronological series from 1966 to 1974, the first block of study that addresses the relationship between the primary publications Provo Dutch (first issue came out in '65) and indirect branches, the outputs of the English, with the vast American landscape thriving east / west coast. The intent is a more careful study of the reciprocal influences and European-American heritage.
In the contents of the magazines are talking in terms of anti-news and opposition to the status quo but the real difference is the graph of the system out of standard, innovative and outrageous of the usual patterns and types; the invention of layout patterns and immersive, steps from the radical "impact" monochrome rainbows psychedelic in a magical vision optics. The turning point was also seen the rise in technological terms gradual plant typographical off-set that allowed a better economy with a still fertile exchange with the existing technical manual movable type. The subjects (anarchy, disobedience, pacifism, sexual liberation ...) that animate the composition and bend as you update to the growing social tensions, class struggles and autonomies. The research brings together two important collections, one Italian and one Dutch, rare publications of the 60's and 70 'documenting a visual-graphic research innovation and a culture of radical publishing promoters / artists / publishers of free actions and alternatives, formed in construction of underground cultural revolution.
Around this exhibition is on an educational program in collaboration with the ISIA in Urbino through the course of Editorial Graphics edited by Francesco Valtolina that produced the graphic design and that will lead to a second installation of the exhibition in Urbino.
