Perugia (PG) - The Cultural Association Bicini Stefano is pleased to present the exhibition "Stephen Bicini Perugia - New York" which will be held June 14 to 23, at the Rocca Paolina in Perugia - "Hall of the Gunship and adjacent rooms" - on the occasion of tenth anniversary of the death of the artist (Perugia 1957 - Vienna 2003).
The exhibition, curated by Sandro Bellu, Marinella Caputo, Claudia Sensi Sensi Mary, Catherine Terzetti will open on Friday 14 June at 18.00.
Will be exposed to a significant body of works by the artist, from ceramics, still unpublished, the large canvases executed in New York, the drawings, gouaches.
Stefano Bicini studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia, and in 1980 he moved to New York. His work is appreciated by Henry Geldzahler, Councillor for Culture of Mayor Koch, discoverer of JeanMichel Basquiat and friend of David Hockney, who on several occasions invited him to exhibit. His exhibitions are held in spaces of art of great quality, receiving critical acclaim and audience.
During his long stay in the United States, Bicini met and established friendships with musicians, actors, artists such as Joseph Kosuth, Louise Nevelson, Jasper Johns, who show great interest in his work. After a period of nearly twenty years spent in the United States, Bicini part of Europe, dividing his time between the Umbrian capital and the cities of Bologna, Pescara, Amsterdam.
