Corciano (PG) - From 13 to 18 August in the medieval days Corciano Festival 2013: festival like every year offers some events in costume of the '400 that, in addition to a value folklore, aim to resubmit the life of a medieval castle and some its religious events.
August 13: Serenade of the Minstrels
As usual in the medieval world, the great solemnities were not limited to just one day of celebration, but also extended to the days immediately preceding, mixing the sacred and the profane.
Open the medieval days "Serenades of Minstrels" which take place after vespers dell'antivigilia the feast of the Assumption. This is an evening dedicated to love animated by medieval music group "The minstrels of Corciano", composed by amateurs and coordinated by flutist John Brugnami.
August 14: Procession of the lumen
The second day of celebration finds its counterpart in the Charter of the Commonwealth of medieval Corciano which provided that: "Li priori which will be held in August Sieno et obligate, the feast of mid-August, to make a candle for the church of Santa Assumption. " At nightfall before the feast of Our Lady of mid-August, the auctioneer, the magistrates, the colleges of arts and crafts with the priors and their insignia, the clergy and the people parading by the light of torches and lanterns and with the large candle that went in procession by the valets of the municipality, is offered by the magistrates to the mother church.
During the "Procession of the light", accompanied by the sound of drums, at the sacred images of the Mater Dei lit by large braziers, medieval and ancient hymns are sung prayers from the group of laudesi of Corciano, directed by Maestro Antoinette Battistoni. Has long been involved in the evening party, the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Good Counsel of Città di Castello, who goes to Corciano for the common devotion to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven.
This year the medieval night, rather than the night of the "great year", will take place on the 17th day before the end of the event.
August 15: Historical Procession of the Banner.
The "historical parade of the Banner" was founded in memory of an ancient religious procession that took place in Corciano, since the sixteenth century, on the 15th of August. This day is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary into heaven, the patron saint of the homonymous parish is, therefore, the main festival of the community.
The magical and natural scenery of the ancient castle of Corciano is embellished with flags and banners waving that color balconies and windows. These days Searches menu, a service in historical costumes and a blaze of torches characterize dining in itself suggestive "Taverna del Duca".
Pay homage to Our Lady of mid groups of figures from many parts of Italy camped outside the walls, near the Porta Santa Maria.
During medieval days it serves a large field where artisans, knights, squires in tow with their families and servants offer glimpses of everyday life such as work, cooking, games of arms, training and dressing of a knight . In the afternoons of 16 and 17, groups will compete strangers to arms in the "Palio of the Assumption", but the festivities continue with the white night of 17 and Corciano comes alive with the help of the group ATMO of musical fireworks, stilt walkers , fire eaters in a show-paced and engaging.
