Cascia (PG) - On May 21st and 22nd Cascia will be commemorating the feast day of St Rita, who was born here and thanks to whom the city ranks as one of the world's most important pilgrimage destinations. Over the centuries the programme of the celebrations has evolved into a spiritually enriching succession of purely celebratory appointments interperced with time for reflection and prayer.
Besides the many religious functions normally scheduled to honour the saint, there will be the arrival of the votive torch from the city that Cascia has chosen to twin itself with this year as well as the awarding of the Riconoscimento Internazionale Santa Rita da Cascia prize, handed each year to a person who has distinguished him or herself in the promotion of forgiveness, peace, solidarity, dedication, faith, love - all qualities emblematic of this most humble of saints.
