From 21 to 22 June Feast of the Rose.
Locked in a ravine dominated by a tear in the sky, the fraction of Roccaporena, native village of Santa Rita, shows sudden visitors. The village at 707 m asl, for clean air and the quiet that surrounds it, is particularly suited to stay calm and rested. The undisputed characteristic of Roccaporena Cascia is its sacredness, due to the many places connected with the life of Santa Rita, including the Rock of prayer, the Cave of gold, the Garden of the Miracle, the Sanctuary, the Lazaretto, the Church San Montano, the birthplace and the marital home.
The Feast of the Rose, the flower symbol of Santa Rita and her native country, the village of the town of Cascia Roccaporena, is all geared to intense meditation.
The event is scheduled for 21 and 22 June, but to live fully the meaning of the Feast of the Rose is necessary to meet the night of 21 to participate in the path of prayer, a collective rite of the Via Crucis on the trail, which winds around all 'inside of the small and charming village.
On Sunday morning, the Feast of the Rose is dedicated to the thousands of pilgrims who come throughout the year in Roccaporena. A particular attention is given to all women who bear the name Rita, which is given a rose and a scroll in memory of the day of the Rite.
The festival closes each year into the night, with spectacular fireworks that start from both sides of the narrow valley and cross right over the cliff, a further tribute to Santa Rita and to all those who come to make the testimony of faith .
