Spoleto (Pg). From June 18th to July 4th the 2010 edition of the Spoleto Festival will be bringing a densely packed schedule of music, dance, opera, art shows, film showings and science lectures to town.
Among the highlights of this year’s festival there is the return of Bob Wilson, who will be offering his interpretation of Shakespeare’s sonnets alongside the Berliner Ensemble and with an original score by US songwriter Rufus Wainwright. The great German contemporary composer Hans Werner Henze will be premiering his Gogo no eiko opera at the Teatro Nuovo, taken from the novel by Yukio Mishima. As for the last night concert, this year’s orchestra will be the Orchestra Sindfonica di Milano G. Verdi conducted by 25-year-old Venezelan violinist and conductor Diego Matheuz, who is establishing widespread consensus across the globe as one of the most promising young directors on the scene.
