On May 27th Gubbio's Piazza Grande will be resuming its traditional role as the setting for the Palio della Balestra crossbow tournament between Gubbio and Sansepolcro. The contestants are required to stand at 36 metres from the bullseye, known as the tasso. Each year the victory banner is designed specially by an established contemporary artist.
A spectacular Medieval pageant in period costume, followed by a dazzling display of choreographic flag-throwing from the Sbandieratori.
