The shape of the story, and Art in the Second Vatican Council - View of Vincent Crocetti

Assisi (PG) - Venanzo Crocetti will be on display at the Pro Civitate Christiana of Assisi until June 30, at the Gallery of Contemporary Art, "the form of the story, and art in Second Vatican Council." On the occasion of the centenary of the birth and death of the decade Venanzo Crocetti, and part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council, the exhibition intends to present one of the most significant artists, and art history of the 900, both the relationship between the Church of the Council and contemporary artists.

But Crocetti is also an important artist for the Pro Civitate Christiana, with whom he had a fruitful relationship. First contacts are in the thirties, when the teacher Ferruccio Ferrazzi presents Don Giovanni Rossi, on the occasion of the International Exhibition of Sacred Art at Villa Giulia (Rome). Later, in 1951, he was commissioned by the Pro Civitate Christiana a sculpture on the theme of Jesus the Divine Worker. By accepting the commission, the author writes to Don Giovanni: "The nobility of the task and the beauty of the theme, inspire me to dedicate myself to the absolute will and faith in this religious work." In 1954 Crocetti realizes the Cross Angels of the Passion and the six candlesticks for the primitive altar of the church of the Citadel. The relationship between the Pro Civitate and the author continued for several years, and the gallery is enriched with numerous other works in bronze, all exhibited: the Great Mercy, St. John the Baptist, the Deposition, the sketch of St. Michael the Archangel Aprilia and eight studies for the Door of the Sacraments of St. Peter's in the Vatican, in addition there are two Madonnas with Child in marble and plaster of the great Crucifix of St. Leo the Great of Rome.

The exhibition also presents a series of drawings of large and small, that are as preparatory studies for the creation of sculptures but also often works as a self employed.
