Preci (PG) - Preci (Pg). On the evening of April 30th the inhabitants of Preci and its surrounding villages will be hoisting the May Pole, generally a particularly tall and straight poplar trunk felled earlier in the afternoon. The tree is then decorated with seasonal fruits and vegetables and set in the main square. The festivities associated with the regeneration of life and the arrival of spring most probably predate Christianity – a remnant of the ancient pagan fertility rites practised in Umbria.
