Pietralunga (PG) - On June 2nd Pieve de Saddi will be commemorating the feast day of St Crescienziano with a walk and Holy Mass at the Pieve de' Saddi. Crescenziano, or Crescentino as he is also known, is believed to have been a Roman soldier who deserted and hid in the countryside around Città di Castello - known as Tifernum in Roman times. He is said to have slain some kind of dragon before being recaptured and executed as a Christian under the persecutions ordered by Emperor Diocletian. Considerable mystery surrounds the exact whereabouts of his remains, which are believed to have been discovered in the Middle Ages.
