Perugia (PG) - After the extraordinary success of the first vigil in Perugia on 29 March, and the dozens of vigils in recent months have brought thousands of people into the streets of Italy to defend freedom of expression and the family, the Sentinels Standing back to Perugia Scalfarotto say no to the bill, the bill that puts a gag on freedom of opinion. Passed the House and now the Senate Judiciary Committee, the bill introduces Scalfarotto the criminal offense of homophobia: Sentinels state that all violence and unjust discrimination are to be condemned.
This, however, is already provided for in the Criminal Code and the Constitution protects every person as such: with the law Scalfarotto you go, however, to affect the freedom of choice and expression. For the promoters and supporters of the law is also homophobe who says that marriage is between a man and a woman or anyone who says that every child has the right to grow up in a family with a father and a mother who opposes sex education or gender tax at primary school or childhood, risking up to one year and six months in prison if the law was finally approved.
For this reason, the Sentinels will watch again in Perugia Saturday, June 7th from 16.00 to 17.00 in Piazza IV Novembre: standing, even in the rain, in silence, reading a book, as a sign of personal commitment and the need for continuing education for defend freedom of expression before it is too late.
We watch in silence today, so that we do not take away the freedom to express ourselves tomorrow.
