Gubbio (PG) - The pilgrimage in 2013 celebrating the Day of the CEI for the protection of creation: back for the fifth year in "The Path of Francis", the path that September 1 to 3 leading pilgrims in the footsteps of Francis of Assisi.
In this sequence of events, Francis walked in fact two parallel paths: the terrestrial,
geographically marked, ranging from Assisi to Gubbio, and the spiritual and reconciliation.
The bishops of Assisi-Nocera Umbra - Gubbio and Gualdo Tadino, in agreement with the Franciscan families,
for five years to reproduce believers and all people of good will, the path taken by
Francis among the green hills of Umbria and together, step by step, even as reconciliation: a pilgrimage that turns into an annual event on days 1, 2 and
3 of September.
The route "geographic" expects, on the first day, a departure from and arrival in Assisi Valfabbrica. The
second day, the departure from Valfabbrica, the break in the Franciscan church of Caprignone and
the arrival of the hermitage of San Pietro in Vineyard. The third and final day, the departure from San Pietro in
Vineyard, the stop at the Abbey of Vallingegno and arrival in Gubbio, near the church of Santa Maria della
Victoria (called the Vittorina), considered the place of the meeting between St. Francis and the Wolf.
Every year, cyclically, during the walk is offered to the pilgrims a particular aspect of the subject of reconciliation and pacification with yourself, with God, with his brothers and with nature.
The happy coincidence of the festive day with the date of September 1, 2013, the consideration of the importance of the figure of Francis of Assisi, even today, for a moral ecology and the environment and a deep spirituality of creation, the appointment of Cardinal Bergoglio as successor of Peter with the name of Pope Francis, have suggested to the organizing committee of the pilgrimage "The Path of Francis" to propose in 2013 a series of high-level initiatives.
On the third day of the Path arrival in Gubbio, this year will also be recovered from the International Prize "Wolf of Gubbio" for reconciliation, the personalities or organized bodies who have distinguished themselves for episodes or paths of reconciliation. All within the context of an evening of music, testimonies, stories and entertainment.
