Gubbio (Pg). On May 30th Gubbio will be holding its annual fixed position Medieval crossbow tournament, an event that is documented as having taken place as early as 1410. The crossbowmen of Gubbio and San Sepolcro will be competing for the coveted banner, with the contest proper followed by a magnificent procession in period costume through the torchlit streets.

On May 30th Isola di Fossara will be holding its annual cutting of the May Pole, with the entire community setting off in the early morning to Mount Catria to fell the tree that will then be dragged into the main square using a system of ropes. In the evening there will be celebrating and a dinner for all, including the maggiaioli May Pole fellers.
